Look more weather

Well, at present there are no active tropical cyclones forming in the South China Sea or the NW Pacific Basin. So it will be clear, at least for a couple of days.

But we just had a 4.7 earthquake about 2 1/2 hours ago. The epicentre was about 60km SE of Taipei.

I was in a team meeting on the 12th floor at work. The whole building seemed to jump, then it swayed for a few seconds. Then we had a few more sways as the aftershocks came. Haven't had one that close in awhile.

The only reaction was "Oh look an earthquake" everyone laughed...then we all continued with the meeting.

I took a look at a historical earthquake site afterwards. They had a map with dots representing epicentres of earthquakes since 1990. Looking at the map for Taiwan, the entire island is covered in dots. I guess that explains why people are so blase about it here. I'm getting that way too.

People had exactly the same "Oh, another earthquake" reaction in Wellington when I lived there because they get so many. We had a 4.5 one here a few months ago, but they're much rarer. We're a volcanic field instead. :-P

What happens with a volcanic field?

I like your Vila weather icon. If you have time could you do one for me?

Volcanoes form! We haven't had a new one for a while, but there'll be one one day. We already have about 70 of the bastards. Eh, have a Wiki link! Wiki is the lazy geek's friend. :-P

And hell, if there was advance warning, people wouldn't be able to get out with only two roads out north and south. Cue one of my childhood nightmares. :-(

You want the same pic of Vila? I suppose I could crop it differently. What text do you want?

Lava bombs, lava flows...and stuck in the middle with only 2 roads out, that would definitely be a nightmare.

Sure the same pic would be fine or even the one you've got now for the "Ever alert!". How about: More weather? Yawn...

OK, I'll see what I can find. :-)

Yipes, glad you're okay. I live in the middle of PA here in the US. Oddly enough, we actually have earthquakes here from time to time, but very mild ones. ;-) There was one when I was in grade school that I remember. It was less than a 3.0 and made more noise than actually shook anything. :-) Back around the turn of the century there was one bad enough to rattle dishes. You never think that they happen in the middle of the Appalachian Mountains, but the mountains were formed by a fault line running up through here. :-)

*hugs* Weather's not so bad if buildings are designed with in mind and people are prepared for it.
