Reversing Falls

Didn't get a good pic of the Falls. It was far too overcast. Actually it's not Falls, per se, as in water going down over a long drop. The Bay of Fundy has the highest tides in the world (28 1/2 ft). The river flows into the bay, as it normally would elsewhere but as the tide rises, it becomes higher than the river level, it slows the course of the river until it stops and begins to reverse. Rapids begin to form (mini-falls as it were). The effect of this reversal is felt upstream as far as Fredericton, more than 80 miles inland. At this point the tidal waters are actually 14 ½ feet higher than the river. This happens twice a day.

Of course, on our way back, we had to stop by the Big Apple. Pie factory, that is.
