TMN, I really wish you had warned me earlier...
2nd-Aug-2007 06:39 pm

When I originally started writing these b7 stories, I was writing just for me. I had no intention for anyone to read them.

The friend who introduced b7 to me then told me about all the fanfic which was available. Up to then I had only heard about them, specifically in relation to star trek, but had never read any.

She insisted on reading mine; at that time, I was already well into the second story.

Then she warned me that it could be addictive...well of course, by then it was already too late...

She enjoyed the first story and suggested that I might want to share it with others, which leads me to the current state of affairs...

TMN, I really wish you had warned me earlier...but then I wouldn't be having so much fun!

Same with me; I started writing Vila's E-mails thinking that maybe 3 or 4 people might read them, then I discovered fanfic...

And now you're a BNF (at least in this neck of the woods)

What's a BNF?

I had to ask that not that long ago. It's short for 'big name fan' and it's been around since at least the 50s (see my post about it). I think B7 fandom's too small to have them myself. ;-)

The new acronym for the day...Thanks BNF...hehe

I like the term 'neofen' too...though it sounds like some swamp creature...

I'm sooo far behind this fandom stuff. I used to be a closet trekkie but that was along time ago and after awhile it just got boring. b7 is infinitely more interesting...

I find that I like alot of the British series alot more than most of the American ones.

It's taken me ages to learn all the terminology of fandom; a recent one is gafiating (leaving a fandom) which stands for 'getting away from it all', and then there's fafiating for when one is forced away. :-P Others defy logic. For example, I assumed a mixed media zine maybe contained fiction, comics, cartoons, poetry, artwork etc, but no: it means multi-fandom. So why don't they call it that?
