My holidays home so far...
31st-Dec-2007 04:56 pm

I hope everyone on my flist had a great Christmas and are enjoying their holidays.

It's been a great visit home for me for the holidays. Spent four days in Regina with my sister and her husband; and a host of friends I haven't seen in along time.

Lots and lots of food. I'm turkey-ed and ham-ed out for the next little while.

For some reason I got a load of DVDs (House S3, Boston Legal S3, Harry Potter (Phoenix), Bourne Ultimatum, CSI S7 and B5: Crusade) as presents ;)  I think I'll wait until I get back to Taiwan to watch them.

Here are some pics of my trip so far...

Very pretty! Gingerbread and snow, how Christmassy!

The snow is nice...don't miss the cold though.

My brother, sister and I used to have a tradition of making a gingerbread house and gingerbread people together when we were young. These ones at the Sask Hotel brought back fond memories. Though ours were never as elaborate or large as these ones!

I only made a gingerbread house once (from a kit). I used to bake up batches of assorted cookies, though, and fill tins for sending to family & gingerbread men were always part of it.

We used a kit too. Gingerbread men are fun to make. Our favourite part, of course, was personalizing them.

I love ginger cookies all year round though.

Mmm... I used to love using ginger cookies to scoop up ice cream.

hmm ginger cookies and good vanilla ice cream. That's nice combination.

I used to make ice cream sandwiches out of oatmeal cookies & whatever ice cream we had. MMmm...

Gorgeous photos! Of course to me snow where people actually live is so exotic. I never got used to it even in the three years I lived in Germany. :-D

Yum, gingerbread! I adore gingerbread. And leckerchen and pfeffernuesse... This is not a good time of year for healthy eating.

I've given up eating healthy for at least another week. Or at least until I get back to Taiwan.

Lovely photos, Gremlin is so cute!

The snow does look wonderful, I doubt that I could get used to the cold however. Christmas holidays = sunshine and beaches.

Gremlin specializes in being cute...hehe

Christmas holidays = sunshine and beaches.
That would definitely feel strange for me.

That's a lot of snow. Here in the UK 1cm of snow staying for a couple of hours causes chaos.

It's picturesque...about the only thing I like about it =P

So the UK doesn't have snow that often? Or just not in the area where you are?

We get possibly one day with some snow each year. And that's part of the problem, the snow clearing equipment is needed so rarely that the council can't justify having enough on standby. Plus drivers don't get any experience of techniques to use on snow and don't have a change of tyres.
