I am now casted
17th-Dec-2009 03:47 pm
I was at the fracture clinic this morning. It wasn't too bad, only 2 1/2 hours. I now have a new best friend for the next 4 weeks, a blue fibreglass cast.

And you still can't drive?
17th-Dec-2009 08:54 pm (UTC)
Nope. I need to avoid putting pressure on the foot, at least for the next couple of weeks.

Do you have someone bringing supplies in?
17th-Dec-2009 09:23 pm (UTC)
Fortunately my mother still drives so I'm fine. Thanks =)

Very pretty! Should have been red, then it would be festive! Hope Gremlin looks after you.

PS - Ouch!

Red...now that would have been festive ;) Gremlin is very curious about the cast and crutches.

But you did that ages ago! It took you this long to get seen, and you were walking round on it? Mind you, I walked on a broken leg and it was the next morning when it really hurt that I decided I needed to get it X-rays. Lucky we have two bones in our legs.

Did you choose the colour? It's a nice one, I picked purple. The guy there told me he let everyone choose but rugby players; he just gave them pink. :-D

Yes, silly me didn't think it was that serious and I thought I had wanted to avoid a cast =P I had it x-rayed on the weekend. It's definitely a break, not a hairline fracture. Blech. Will take 12 wks to heal. Hopefully I can take the cast off in about 3 wks.

They gave me an option of about 6 colours. No purple ;) But they had my favourite. I should be glad I'm not a rugby player? ;)

It's a brutal game with a lot of injuries, and I suppose he just didn't like the nacho. He only did it to players who came in injured. :-)

[flails around for an icon with pink]

You have to be tough to play rugby for Stade Francais. Look at their away shirt
17th-Dec-2009 09:34 pm (UTC)
*smirk* or is that *smirt*? Wow, that is one rough team ;)
17th-Dec-2009 09:39 pm (UTC)
That stops just short of having a pink pony on it! Who's the woman, Mary?
17th-Dec-2009 09:54 pm (UTC)
Blanche of Castille apparently. I don't know why they picked her, usually if the French want one of their queens they go for Reine Claud.

Roses are red
Bandages are blue
Sugar is sweet
and so are you.

*hugs*

Aw. Thanks =) You're sweet too. Chocolate sweet =)
17th-Dec-2009 09:48 pm (UTC)
I wish you a speedy and not-too-painful recovery!

Now that you have a photo of the cast, you can Photoshop all sorts of ornaments onto it that wouldn't work in real life!
17th-Dec-2009 09:50 pm (UTC)
Thanks =) And a chocolate cake too, just the painkiller I need ;)

Hmm photoshopping ornaments...now that's an idea! =)

;) yes I do...

Ouch! You have my sympathy.

At least it's a pretty shade of blue? Reminiscent of warm, Indian ocean waters?
18th-Dec-2009 12:46 am (UTC)
Thanks. I love that they had my favourite colour =)
18th-Dec-2009 12:25 am (UTC)
Wait, WHAT. It took them this long to figure out it was broken? Also blue! Your favourite colour! awwww. You need someone to doodle B7 cartoons on it for you.

*hugs, offers cookies*
18th-Dec-2009 12:47 am (UTC)
No, it wasn't them. It was silly me avoiding going to the doctor because I didn't want a cast =P

Yes, I need someone to doodle B7 cartoons!

Yum cookies.

Ahhh.

What kind of dog is Gremlin? Has the telephone wire always been there or is his fear of it a new thing? (Flatmate Z wants to know. She thinks he's the most adorable thing on earth.):-)
18th-Dec-2009 03:49 pm (UTC)
Gremlin is a Shih Tzu. The telephone wire has always been there and he's always had an antagonistic relationship with it.

Aww so you'll be blue this Christmas.
Speaking from someone who went to the doctor and got told it was only a sprain and didn't go to Casualty for another week I can't throw stones about the delay.
Mind you the sprain complicated matters it was a case
Break = put pot on and yes you can walk on it.
No says fracture clinic almost a week of agony later, put elastic bandage on and stay off it as much as possible!

It's amazing I healed at all!

Hope yours heals quickly. Of course it means you need more calcium and iron, greatest excuse for chocolate ever!

18th-Dec-2009 03:02 am (UTC)
Ohhh, I could use a couple of those =D Thank you!

This is where you get to say:

"Son of a biscuit!"

Except really loudly.
