LJ woes?

I've been having the occasional blank content screens the last couple of days on LJ. Today I got this message after posting a comment.

Error running style: Died in S2::run_code running EntryPage::print(): Database handle unavailable (user: kalinda001; cluster: 1) at /home/lj/cgi-bin/LJ/Subscription.pm line 76

Has anyone else run into this?

I've seen it a few times but don't know what it means. A couple of refreshes or a "go away and come back" has normally been enough to get to see the page.

Daren't say too much - but LJ is behaving itself (for me) today - but it went through a time of not sending on comments etc!

I've run into a lot of problems with LJ for more than a month. I got several failures with different unintelligible messages, including the Died in S2 one which I privately dub the 'Gan message'.

I'm getting pretty tired of comments vanishing after they successfully post, too. That happens JUST often enough that I'm not expecting it, so my partner and crime & I have sat around waiting for each other during RPGing, until we start to think zombies have et our friend.

ahaha, I thought of Gan too when I saw that

also the comments vanishing thing keeps happening to me and Mab too. Maybe we should set Orac loose on lj...then again that could make things worse.

Can you have your own webpage in case LJ iffy?

Do not know about LJ but:

In searching the internet for Blakes 7 online fiction, have found 2 things:
1) Links to some 10 webpages that no longer exist so stories are lost; and
2) One community source, I forget which, possibly Home something, completely shut down a few years ago, with people (writers? readers?) complaining somewhere about lost stories. Vague impression, or wondered if, the community source did not like x-rated stories so got out.

Has LJ rejected writers in the past? Or is LJ changing owners? If so, could you start up your own web page? I know nothing about getting one's own webpage, but if my nephew can do it, and also a coworker, anyone can.

Re: Can you have your own webpage in case LJ iffy?

I'm not entirely sure, I don't follow these things, but I think LJ has had issues with stories with certain types of content, but there are adult ratings you can put on posts now.

I do post almost all my stories on fanfiction. The only thing that is different with my LJ postings is that my long PGP stories are posted 'live' per chapter. On fanfic, I post only after a story is complete. My fanfic name is the same as here.

For other people's stories, perhaps you can PM them directly?
